I believe in magic
I know that we don't know everything there is to know
That’s naïve and tragic
If you want some words to put me down again
But every discovery of the next thousand years
Will be sleight of hand to you
All the things that we will do
Will be lost on you
Time's rearranged my face and ears
But i ain't changed in 60 years
The river broadens to the sea
Then, does it end?
Or does the ocean be?
I took a moment to assess
Our future, but I only guess
In moments of true clarity
The meaning
Of eternity
Who gave the monkeys clipboards?
Who gave them pads and pens?
They're working out equations
To save the world, my friend
I find it hard to think that we,
With all of our propensity
For throwing plastic in the sea,
And pissing on posterity,
Are being the best that we could be.
Individually and collectively
I'm questioning our sanity.
