There are those that can see in the dark.
They can breathe beneath the ocean’s waves.
They can fly above the clouds.
They are not birds. They are not fish.
But they are not quite human.

They move about the world unseen.
They talk to us while we sleep.
They tell us things we would rather not hear.
They use words we don’t want to understand.
They tell us stories we don’t wish to hear.

What is it that we have forgotten?
Is it some unnamable truth?
What is it that we see in the dark?
Can we breathe beneath the ocean’s waves?
Can we fly above the clouds?
