Announcing the Biannual Wikiloops Limerick Contest

Yes after the unparalleled success of the recent Wikiloops shoutbox world series Yedelling competition, it was decided that we are now ready for the Wikiloops Limerick Contest. The rules are pretty simple:



Special points will be awarded to those who actually sing the Limmerick on a wikiloops track, make sure to put the song link if available.

Other than the coveted "Wikiloops Limerick Master" title, the winner will get remixes of a track of his choice, and who knows what else we will think of. So don't be shy, give it a go!

That some might consider unlucky
He went to this bar
With his pink guitar
And was knocked off his stool by a truckie


*any resemblance to real Wikiloops members is pure coincidence

Wow the competition is hotting up :W some strong entries out there. You better get into the mental gym, step on that thesaurus machine, do some double session of heavy verb lifting (start with 2, and progress to 4 syllables), do some antonym cardiac workouts and drink 2 rhyming protein shakes because you got some fierce world class word smiths in the Wiki house spitting those rhymes without even blinking yo! ;)

May I remind our noble bards to pay attention to the rules, as this is not a simple poem competition. No! This is serious Limerick. There will be a lot of attention to the rhythm of the Limerick, on the syllables count and on the rhymes like explained in the first post of this thread. Plus, it has to be humorous, we all love a good grinning.

And to give you some inspiration, here is a very sophisticated one from Sach Weinerstein which breaks all the rules of a good Limmerick. Or does it???

"This limerick goes in reverse
Unless I’m remiss
The neat thing is this:
If you start from the bottom-most verse
This limerick’s not any worse."
