Biografia
Played the flute from 4 to 10 (reading music sheets), then started accoustic guitar by myself at 11 or 12 years old. Chords grids and songs for 4 or 5 years
Switched to electric guitar at 15 and playing rythmic/solo with friends at 16. In 1986 synths were there for the chords. Started playing some bass too.
Stopped playing chords and covers to learn playing by ear (strong rejection reaction to music sheets and chord grids).
The keyboards I knew all gone techno so I ended playing over CD tracks for years.
Then with a friend trumpetist/keyboard for 10 years "in the ether" (without rythm section and with fuzzy breaks).
Some small scenes (jam sessions with people from many origins), building simple grooves and adding phrases with guitar or bass by ear.
Almost stopped for three years then in 2013 far from home I bought a cheap but great Martin electro-accoustic folk guitar to recover and start learning to mix chords and phrases.
Turning around and mixing blues-soul-jazz-rock-pop-afro-hindu influenced grooves and phrases.
I love Morroco/Mali/African ternary rythms and the sound of the 2nd pentatonic (same pattern as minor penta but from the fifth)
I do not like pre-electric jazz music so much. On the soul/jazz side I love the Fender Rhodes years.
Influenced by Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Genesis, AC/DC, Van Halen, Mark Knopfler, Bob Marley, Saga, Manfred Mann, Marillion, Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Steve Hillage, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Oumou Sangare, Ali Farka Touré, Boubakar Traoré, Lionel Loueke, Meddy Gerville, Chick Corea, Miles Davis (electric), Larry Coryell, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Debashish Bhattacharya, Trilok Gurtu, Nikhil Banerjee, Zakir Hussain, Fela Kuti, Joe Henderson, Gil Scott Heron, Curtis Mayfield, Lonnie Liston Smith, Jack DeJohnette, Simon Phillips, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, Don Cherry, Pharoah Sanders, The Crusaders, O'Donell Levy, Stanley Turrentine, Freddy Hubbard, Donald Byrd, Joe Farrell, Milt Jackson, John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, Stanley Clarke, Alphonse Mouzon, Jimmy Smith, Kevin Eubanks and so many more I cannot remember the name right now...
Most of the latter ones in the "Fender Rhodes years".

I'm playing guitar, mostly electric, some electric bass (mostly in jams), for almost 45 years, not professionally: no partitions, for pleasure, by ear, emphasizing feeling (not a shredder).
Until I bought a second hand NUX Mighty Space in 2024 I was often too lazy to connect any cable, so for 10 years I mostly just picked the Martin, she keeps perfectly in tune and I can start playing in 10 seconds.
Not exactly my good old 100W Carvin XV212 tube amp with tons a headroom and vibrations (amp sim players cannot understand how it feels when you play for the first time on something like this... the dynamics, the air movement and bass response - like if you never played your guitar before :-D) ...
Anyway the NUX Migthy Space (4kg instead of 32Kg for a tube amp) is just amazing for playing wireless in stereo at home or anywhere (7h battery, + wifi plug with 2 or 3h battery) for example to jam on wikiloops (via bluetooth from your phone) or for recording with the integrated USB ASIO soundcard. Also it can be be used as an amp head (there is a speaker output for guitar cabinet).
I love the bass response of this little amp (dual bass reflex), the ability to play both at very low volume (at night or with people talking around) or high volume in a jam (not with a loud drummer without going to PA or amplified monitor(s))
Tuner, Noise gate, (OD), (EQ), Fender Deluxe Reverb AMP + IR, (EQ), Tremolo or Leslie, Pan delay + Reverb is often my way to go with it.
Downside is the short loop length (that you can only save with your DAW) when playing with yourself, the missing MIX control for most of modulation effects, and not being able to have both output to PA and sound from the unit for stage monitoring. Also the phone app needs to reconnect (5-10sec) when you leave the app by mistake. Nobody's perfect, but you I like it anyway...
Got a G&L S-500 2014 and a G&L ASAT classic Bluesboy 2013 (with Seymour Seth Lover in neck - nowadays my preferred sounding guitar but also the heaviest one) both pleked and made in Fullerton, and a bunch of indonesian guitars with good pickups (Ibanez Super 58, DiMarzio Air Norton and Tone zone, G&L MFD, Squier Jazz bass made in Japan in the 80's...)... plus the guitar of my life (Simon Pinder, EMG HSS...)
Man this chinese SQOE SETL 400 2024 with satin roasted maple neck and P90s is priceless but was only $120 including setup accessories and delivery - chinese manufacturers are improving fast :-D

Wikiloops is an amazing platform to experiment with the styles of music that I never have had the opportunity to vocalize with. Thanks to all the excellent musicians/producers, the sound quality of the tracks are spectacular.
