time for another entry to the developers blog :)

yet another update has been released. After I noticed a valid html5 code was only a few changes per page away, I changed the code from html4.01 to html5 (wich is the browser coding language state of the art theese days). Thats been some more long nights on the code, but the "green" validation message of the W3C checker ( http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikiloops.com%2Fbackingtrack.php&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0)kept me motivated.
Next reworked issue were the so called rich snippets embedded in the code and text, I noticed the breadcrumbs were not properly recognized by google, so i changed the schema a little, look here to see what this is about: rich snippets tester.
Thir issue was another setup of shortened meta descriptions matching the requirements of the bing-bot best practises. Theese are in place for any jam upwards of ID 5000 now.
What else is new? I disabled user tracking for pople without cookies allowed. This will cause a naughty gap in the tracked visitors count, but does increase loading times for bots a lot, so it should be worth it.
Finally made my first business years tax account with the help of a counselor, had to pay another 300 euros for this service... wich kind of ate all of this years donations in one bite :( Hopefully, I'll be able to do it myself without third party help next year. I'm no studied businessman, thats why theese parts really suck on my nerves a bit.
Coming up next weekend is the once-a-year festival in my village where I'll be playing the soundengineer once more. Hoping to get the money needed for another year of wikiloops out of this job (producing a CD of that festival created the initial money needed to get going, so theres some tradition in this event and wikiloops.)
got my fingers crossed everything will work out, I dont use my equipment that often theese days, so its always a bit scary to do a two day, two stages festival out of the blue :)
As far as the site updates are concerned, I have reached the html5-goal one year ahead of what I had thought earlier this year, if no bad feedback shows up people are having problems, I might be done for a little time. Theres still some little improvements, but with the w3c-seal of conformity, a 98% page speed result, an A grade by Yspeed and good looking rich snippets, I believe pretty much everything is achieved that can be done "under the hood".
I wanna thank all of you who helped with feedback and good ideas, going to set up a list of changes and credit those who introduced the ideas soon.
Looking forward to participating a little more again ;)

Wikiloops is good for your creativity. Where else do you get to jam with many excellent musicians, world-wide, from the comfort of your studio?
