changed the search results page navigation (next ten), by adding a wikilooooooops linkbar.
reworked the upload formular once more, now offering title (thats whats shown on the startpage and search results), Sounds like-Tags and a long text description. Added charcounting skripts to avoid cut off texts like we have seen before.
New option: state a subgenre your jam would fit into.
Now whys that again?
I have been thinking, feeling like I do too many changes in too little time theese days. I dont want it to look like I'm all into taking this to commercial thinking, somehow after publishing the years numbers and the feedback there, I have a feeling some fellows are backing up, thinking - hey, hes planning a big ripp off...
Still, I keep doing these changes, and yes, I am interested in promoting wikiloops, so much is true. As for the changes, yes, they make it a bit more work to anyone uploading a jam, BUT I believe we all exerience it as getting more difficult to find the jams we are looking for.
We've been thru the pros and cons of square-headed category thinking, but the bottom line is: the better a track is to be identified or classified, the greaer are the chances it being spotted. The "sounds like" feature will allow to browse by artist names some day (without encouraging copyright issues there!), and "Sounds like Zappa" is quite a better description than looking in the rock corner, dont ya think?
Bottom line, all I do is making offers, knowing that some features will be proven unnecessary - but thats up to you to decide.
The additional data like the tags or subgenres will not be used right away (theres 2100 jams that dont have theese info... better get started now), but I'll include the free text search once theres a good amount of data, same goes for the subgenres.
I hope your still with me in this fellas... feedback appreciated, as always :)
