4th wikiloops.com anniversary – Happy Birthday, loops!
Nope, this is not an april fools joke :)
It was on april 1st 2011 … I do remember copying that final file onto the server shortly after midnight, which turned the page I had been working on for months from “Beta-Testers-Only” to “live”.
With 4 friends who had helped beta testing, and about 260 pre-recorded beats by Baer + some awkward basslines by myself, its safe to assume very few people noticed the “big event”.
1461 days later, wikiloops.com is something a lot of people enjoy. Talk about A LOT of people!
I guess it is not really possible to communicate the way me and MrBaer feel on the fourth wikiloops anniversary –
it has been quite a ride to supply you all with just another free & fun website,
a steep learning curve as far as web programming is concerned,
an honour to listen to your fantastic tracks,
a legal nightmare to sweat through at times,
a great and greater responsibility to maintain and
the mother of things we certainly did not expect to have to deal with.
As those who have been following the blog a little or stumbled upon our many calls for support will know, our wikiloops is struggling hard to make ends meet on the budget side.
The 2014 years finances review (you can still find it in the “blue iguana”-forum) looks quite scary,
and there have been reasonable voices of doubt if we will be able to celebrate many more wiki-versaries if the growth goes on without the needed financial backbone.
As my personal birthday present to the wikiloops project,
I am very, very proud to have been able to find a first business partner
who is willing to help sponsor the wikiloops project.

Happy Birthday to Wikiloops !! I've only been here a couple of months, but I've really enjoyed all the folks here, not to mention how well the site is designed. Free is good, although a service such as this (which requires tons of storage) could sure use a few more contributors. I was shocked when I saw you could use loops free. Money is not easy to come by but a few bucks from everyone might keep the site from becoming in jeopardy. Bob, thanks for your hard work and congrats on your first sponsor... here's to more sponsors in the future ;)

To see what you have accompliced in four years is just amazing, and congrats with the sponcer, Thomann is top, been there a few times, and I must say, a total different Customer-friendly attitude then at the other giant store in Germany, everyone should take a trip to this beautiful country side there!

Congratulations for the four years of existence, even though there are companies like thomman to join this great project, I wish I could help monetarily but my financial life is not in its best days, however I will be here to torment you with my faults and I hope that at least another four years wikiloops is between us, giving us the opportunity to be able to jam.
