Summertime news 2016

Just a few bits of info from the headquarters today -
I'm currently working quite intensly on the next major update for wikiloops,
which shall include some quite tasty functions and features around the wikiloops track search engine.
Some of these were requested or recommended by our users thru the "Feedback and Suggestions"-forum (thanks for the lively inputs!),
some others had been on the long term to do list for quite a while.

Let me just share a screenshot from my development laptop so you get an idea what I'm currently fiddling on...

I actually spent quite a few hours trying to scam the wikiloops database for tracks in which the key has been stated - only a small percentage (<10%) of all tracks do have that - I did stumble across quite a lot of funny semi-good chord descriptions...
My very favorite ones being "will fill the chords later tonight" and "Ab is a totally underrated key".
Still, I do believe being able to search by Key is a feature many have been missing in the past, so finally, here it is :)

If anyone feels like "Duh, had I known that, I could have easily declared the key of my tracks!", there is a simple solution for that:
If you'd like to get your tracks found by Key in the future, just add a Tag "keyofAm" to the track and I'll pick the data up from there - mind you may add such tags on the big jam-view page of your own tracks, look around the bottom of the page.

The other newly added functions like "Focus on tracks with chords / HD attachments" should be self explanatory -
the switch between "exact" and "loose" matching may not be that obvious, it does come in handy when you'd like to find tracks with p.e. vocals, but are not looking for vocals-only tracks - that's where the "loose" matching will find what you want.

Last but not least, I have finally worked out a way to let the search page "remember" your filter settings, so you will not have to set those again -
you will actually be keeping your search results visible while checking out tracks, so the need to navigate back and forth to the search results is reduced quite drastically... Sounds strange, feels like an improvement right away as I have it in some experimental stage here.
It will still take some weeks before this is ready for beta testing, but I'm hoping to get there eventually.

Before I end - a quick reminder that it is still possible (but not for much longer!!) to check in for the wikiloops meeting 2016 - don't miss it, all the needed info is available in the "open mic @ the blue iguana" forum.

Enjoy the loops & a great summer of 2016 to you,
send some support if you can, server cost & coffee supplies are munching the budget... ;)
