Biografia
I'm a drummer with heart and soul, a passionate educator, performer, and author from Germany.
I studied jazz drums in the Netherlands, earning my Bachelor of Music degree. My formal education was complemented by private studies with renowned instructors and participation in masterclasses with some of the world’s leading drummers. These experiences provided fresh inspiration and helped shape my musical voice. Over the years, I have performed in numerous bands across a wide range of genres.
Beyond performing, I have worked as a product specialist and demonstrator for electronic drums, combining technical expertise with a deep love for the instrument.
Together with fellow drummer Dirk Brand, I co-host the popular German drum podcast Schlagabtausch, which explores all things drumming. I have also contributed as a freelance editor to the respected drum magazines “STICKS” and “drums&percussion”.
In 2011, I published my first educational method, Modern Groove Drum Book. The book offers a comprehensive approach to drumming, covering essential theory, technical foundations, song-based playing, sight-reading, and creative development, always with an emphasis on keeping the joy of music alive.
My new digital book JAZZ STANDARDS FOR THE DRUMSET, published by Hudson Music in 2025, was born from my own journey as a student, performer, and educator. Over the years, I’ve worked with passionate jazz lovers and curious drummers who didn’t necessarily see themselves as “jazz drummers.” What I’ve learned is that jazz becomes accessible the moment you start listening, really listening. And even more so when you start transcribing and playing along.
In 2006, I founded my own music school, dedicated to nurturing young talent through high-quality, individualized instruction in jazz, rock, and pop. My goal have always been to guide students on their unique musical journeys with encouragement and expertise.
Today, I continue to share my passion for drumming as a lecturer at the University of Koblenz-Landau and as a jazz drum instructor at the “Rock, Pop Jazz Academy - RPJAM” in Giessen, Germany.
