I recall the memories
of walking slowly
through the forest
the leaves were falling
you were smiling
the dogs were playing
in their glory
but all was passing

And you told me
that you loved me
but there were things that
you were hiding
and it all rippled
underneath the current
pulling us apart
I felt the sound of thunder
trying to tear this piece
of happiness asunder
I could not escape
the destiny
the saddest fate

One would never have known
in that moment then
that this serenity
and sacred unity
was fading quickly
forsaken blown away
like the wind
just like the wind
like the leaves in the wind
like the leaves in the wind

The snow was falling
but you were missing
the dogs laid by my feet
in the cold kitchen
the candles flickered
my soul was frozen
in grief and sorrow
there's no tomorrows
I was hoping
that things would soon resolve
but they didn't
I went on trying
to keep things positive
but I just couldn't

That was 20 years ago
my dear loved dogs
have died.....
I dug three holes
and placed them
lovingly inside...
many tears since then
my hearts still frozen
It's still frozen

If all of this sounds sad
I do apologize
I kept it deep inside
and I tried and tried
I kept moving on
the sun kept rising everyday
but I was broken
with nothing left to say
