Rat Race

RAT RACE

I don't know
Where to go.
My hunch, like a caged rat,
Is to flee,
Still I huddle beneath
The drain of the city
That almost waters my thirst

From the bowels of the street
I see daylight
Playing with darkness
And those above
Mingle in twilight
With their fierce walks they
Kick dust below,
Stiff gaits
Into what I must
Call home.
