Went with an all metal ligature this time..and put a little snake oil on my pads. That's the trouble with buying a cheap horn...probably cost more to get it runnin right than what it's worth. Gonna work with the snake oil treatment again overnight..otherwise it'll be into the shop for a re-pad. You can hear a strubble on the low end... Feedback on the sound would be appreciated

If the horn has any leaks..low notes are impossible...as well as subtones. First treatment hepled..I'll see how the overnight job comes out. Too frickin hot here to be outside much so I'll get some more time on it tomorrow..Poor thing is 96 years old.. +0

akethesnaker Should have answered here, nice playing! Sounds great! I have a fish smokery close here so it`s no problem for me exept that they are so expensive:D, but good quality fish from the ocean here. +0

WOW 96 years, I had a guitar who was from 1911. A Levin, the swedish company who Martin buyed up and killed. Levin made better slide guitars than Martin he he +0

Fishinmissio It's a 1918 Buescher I swooped off the shelf in a local pawn shop during a 1/3 off Thursday..I always played an alto back in the day..and thought a tenor would be fun.. +1

Fishinmissio Mine's an Elkhart..kinda confusing on it's history..Ser # dates it at 1918..but ties in with the True Tone models..it's not real pretty..looks it's age +1

jmrukkers I've got a true tone alto, plays very well. Fascinating, those older saxes, a lot of tonal variety back then. +0
