PaulM44 I am so impressed that some backing tracks have 50 remixes the first day and by the time I see it in my time zone! I’m not complaining because the are seriously seductive and professional sounding. :Y +1

Wade I'm afraid I'll never be one of them. Seems like somewhere between two months and two years before I get anything back. +1

PaulM44 I am coming to believe it is a different mindset to make the right balance of repetition and variation. I have not spent any prior time attempting this so plan to try different things to find anything that works. Even then I'm not convinced there is any formula. It probably also depends on who hears it when and in what state of mind.
Mario is an excellent example of a success and I see him joining nearly every work on here. I read that the Beatles had 10,000 hours of playing together prior to becoming famous and this is what it takes to be successful.

Wade There are many aspects to how and if one fits. The site is mostly about guitars, bass, drums, keys and vocals. Other instruments are certainly here, but not followed the same way. As a player of an "outside" instrument I know that others will maybe put up with listening to two tracks a week from me. More than that they ignore as there is so much else to hear. They seem to appreciate that I play melodically and do my best to fit and be inside the music and make a track sound better (if possible). So, that's what works for me. Playing a variety of different styles also helps. Many/most sax players are only interested in jazz and showing off their chops, which in my opinion limits them.

Mario is a good example of a player who has given a lot of time to becoming a good bass player. For whatever reason though he's currently determined to become a drummer as well, but is a very long way off from being as good as most here.

I tend to like the creative types. Some may not be that good on their instruments, but have excellent ideas. The players who are all ego or only upload finished tracks without the intent of anyone else joining in get ignored (by me).

Of course others have their favorites and may prefer ego players who are good, but stand outside the music. IMHO the key to the site and being comfortable here is to support others and work to make every track better with what we add.

PaulM44 I usually start by using a drum track to play to and if I just put on the guitar track alone it seems to sound aimless without it. I add it separately in hopes of allowing another drummer to add as well. B) +0
