Ups and downs

River of dawn
If my memory serves me correctly
That's where I was born
Infinity pool
Where I left my emotions soaking
Just like some whirlpool

But I can't break away no
It's always the same
Takes my time and my effort
To remember why I came
An ocean of hurt and a mountain of pain
That's the down time again

Just like a bolt of lightning
I feel that arrow pierce my heart
I don't know where to look
And where to turn and what to do
Or even where to start

I just hope it's not the same
The same as before
Like a revolving door to nowhere
Is where I always seem to go

I want to paint it a different colour
I want to take it somewhere new
I want to see that rosy future
But I still somehow don't believe
That it's true
I want to you know

The up times are shorter
Than the down
Not so easy to turn that frown around.
