As wild as fern upon the hill
Daisy trails and fields of barley
A young mind several shades of green
Lived a youth both full and hearty

Barking foxes and night owls
Were the soundtrack of the valley
Apple laden weary boughs
Among the tall grass and wheat alleys

And where the green fields met the sea
He painted pictures in his mind
Transforming thoughts to poetry
Making childhood memories rhyme

Among the coal mines and the farms
His rebel words ran free like rivers
He captured Wales and all it's charm
So down to earth it makes me shiver
