mpointon The big difference for me is I've reduced my kit to a 4-piece so I can mic the hi-hat. I can mic a six piece kit but I've not enough mic stands! Giving the hi-hat its own mic makes a big difference to the clarity. The change in the quality of my recordings since I joined this place is huge. In fact, you said it's something I'd learn. And learn I did! +1
