In this collaboration with Benjamin, I learned that when you take a little 10 month break from an unfinished tune, mayhem can happen! I got B's instrumental tracks mixed up and mistakenly posted one he didn't intend to be the final. Here's the track he DID intend me to sing to - unfortunately my rough vocal sketch makes me cringe. Oh yea, took so much patience to listen to again...and again and again. Hey Anne, this and the other one are beautiful. Yes we are are our own worst critics...maybe as it should be. You hear what (in your opinion could be improved). We hear what communicates to us rather than listening for a technically perfect exposition. Takes a big mistake to disrupt your singing. +2

I like the other one better, this version is indeed more polished and smooth but my imagination puts me in a recordingstudio, while the other one puts me right in your house and you sitting there in the pale morning light with a guitar in your hands and singing your heart out..just my 2 cents.. +1

hurzel thank you for sharing your opinion! i can see your point. In my opinion, the guitar playing on the other version is too cold and mechanical. What are your thoughts about that? +1

fanne I like the bareness and coldness off the first take, but indeed it’s a bit harsh and the playing off the second take was much better, probably a mix somewhere in between would be the right one. I find the contrast between Anne’s voice, warm and dark, and the thinness of the guitar in the first take more prominent and reflects more the mood of the singer and the lyrics, but either way this is a fantastic song and sure one off the best here on Wikiloops ! +0
