Rockzilla the strange thing is that we kinda used to do that way back in the day when we were young and had no money to replace them, we would take the broken string reverse it and tie to the ball (at the end of the string), use it that way 'till you could afford strings, bass strings were like 45 bucks Canadian then they are around 28 now +0
