So I heard this beat done by The Whitefield Brothers, and it's just deadly. I took it a bit faster than they did, so it almost feels like a James Brown groove, but with a kink in it.

Thanks Kenny! I did put the BPM down wrong, it's about 120 (maybe 122), but the rhythm is even, not odd. it's straight 4/4, but it does sound odd, because the 6 snare beats in a row bridge the 4th and 1st beats between the two measures that make up the phrase, causing the downbeat to shift in the second measure.
