Der junge Mönch
Thank you Youllaïe & José :)

Der junge Mönch [The young Monk, old poem]
Die Klosterglocke ruft zum Chor,
Die Brüder kommen zum Gebet,
Die Stufen steigend stumm empor,
Wo am Altar ihr Schemel steht:
Der jüngste nur allein von ihnen,
Versäumt der Glocke Ruf zu dienen.
Im Garten weilt er an der Wand
Bei einem Rosenstrauch, der blüht,
An seine Brust gedrückt die Hand,
Das Aug' und Herz so still erglüht:
O Gott, wie schön ist deine Erde,
Das spricht des jungen Mönch's Geberde.
Die Seligkeit des Fühlens hier
In der Empfindung Allgewalt,
Und dort ...

The young monk
The monastery bell calls to the choir,
The brothers come to prayer,
The steps ascending up silently,
Where the altar their stool is:
The youngest alone of them,
Failures of the bell to serve reputation.
In the garden he dwells on the wall
In a rosebush that blooms,
On his chest pressed his hand,
The eye and heart so still glows:
O God, how beautiful your earth,
This speaks of the young monk's gesture.
The bliss of feeling here
In the sense omnipotence,
And there reading the breviary
With hollow voices, raw and cold:
If both ascend to the sky,
the angels whom tend? +4

Really nice piece! The vocals are part of the music and the music is part of the vocals---can be no separation! Perfect
