Here we go, another month another diary!
Today is Karfreitsg, a very important day for Christians, part of the Easter weekend.
And for people like me who are not religious, Karfreitag is a day to work on my kar or my bike B) .
Yesterday I had a lovely dinner with a dear friend, a young man who I admire and respect very much. The thing that I like especially about him, other than that he is crazy clever and talented, is the fact that we have probably very different views on some political and social matters, but still manage to speak about it in a civil and honest way without both of us getting triggered.
And during this dialog I learn things and he learns things. And this is what I miss from society these days, to be able to talk to people who don't hold exactly the same views as you do.
When did we lose this? It didn't use to be like that 20 years ago. Is it because of social media?? Smartphones? Internet? Or just has the wheel almost made a 360 degree turn and we are due another catastrophic repeat of the endless cycle of war and peace?
I hope not, but spending time with him gives me hope, lifts me up and today I feel better about everything than I did yesterday.
Anyhoo people, take my advice, get out of your bubble and listen to those who don't believe what you do. Switch over to the station that makes your blood boil. Listen to the other side. Try to understand why they are saying this. Because other than the extreme truly evil edges on both sides of the spectrum, they are not stupid. They are not evil. They care about things. I met in my life many good honest people who believed in extremely stupid things.
We got to go back to speaking with each other without hate. Without getting triggered. Without being butthurt. Without repeating slogans. Don't fall for what they feed you in your bubble.
Peace <3

I found a great song on Wikiloops.
I was so excited about it that I practiced 4 hours. After that, I recorded it a few times and chosed the best parts from the recordings. I mixed the song roughly, I had spent 6 hours at this point.
I was really excited. I had a great backstory in my head, based on a love story. I fell in love in the dream, but every time I tried to touch her face, something strange happened. The closer my hand was to her, the paler her face became.
She tried to touch my face at the same time, but her hand was too cold. I felt like dying.
Only when I woke up, I realize that I was in love with death. She did not want to take me yet, but she tried to touch me anyway, because she loved me.
But that Wikiloops song. It was time to mix the song. I used my headphones and this was the point when I noticed that the song already had a bass track. I guess I shouldn't listen to songs through TV speakers, because this wasn't the first time I couldn't hear the bass ๐๐

Hey, maybe you can ask the uploder of the track if they can give you the track without bass?

It's just a song. I can always make a new one. I don't worry about it. ๐
But I have to admit that time is the reason why I don't make songs here anymore.
But I completely forgot..
Dear diary..In about two weeks one of my favorite artists will be performing in Helsinki. I've been waiting to see Skynd since the fall, it's fun to be excited about music.
My son and I also agreed today that we will go to Tallinn that same weekend. This should be a fun trip.

Nice to see that the wikiloops Diary lives on, thanks to TeeGee and Aito.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get past some technical internet problems this past week and my connection is still unreliable but I wanted to let my friends know that I'm not dead :D

The Leicester accent is not very pleasant actually, flat and coarse and often loud :( I have to watch the football from behind the sofa these days, it's kinda scary..... we're probably going down again unless we can bring about a 'Great Escape' da da da da da da da ;) Still having tech probs so I haven't been getting in here so often.

Been offline for a while, had some problems logging on but Dick fixed it for me :)
Not too many entries for the diary, this is what happend in the last days:
1) Got the old BSA motorcycle back together and did a few running-in rides. Had to hold myself from opening it up, but I got to be patient ;).
2) I am working out at this gym for a couple of years, and during that time I started to talk to a guy who does calisthenic exercises, amazing strength this guy has. Anyway, I told him that I have a dream to be able to do a muscle up, and I am working on it for a long time now. He gave me some really good tips, and gave me some exersizes to do, a really nice guy. So then the last few times I did not see him, I wondered why - and then someone approached me and told me "you know the guy you always chat with, he's dead" :( I was shocked...his flat burned down and he did not make it. So sad...I am gutted.
I have fire alarms in each room fitted many years ago, they are so important. They save lives people. If you haven't got them, go to the shop now and get them! They are not expensive, and every one should have them!!!

Hmm, new album uploaded (which was a load to get off my chest but once again a great learning curve), couple of adds to different tracks...at the moment WL serves as a parking space for my sanity as everything else is pure madness and pulling me in different directions.
On the plus side, my youngest came to visit over easter. Pretty hard to find days in a row with him as he`s busy preparing for the national Special Olympics in June. Going to be a big sporting event again with 100.000 spectators expected. He brought me copies of all the media stuff handed out by the organizers as well as by the government of his home state. His face is plastered on buses and trains, there was a tv documentary last months ... if I had access to that sort of publicity I`d be giving up my day job and concentrate on music.

They say that when you get older you get wiser. Experience, level headed, that sort of stuff. Unfortunately, I think sometimes that does not work for me.
What happened? I work on my bike in the garage, which is about 25 meters away from my man cave workshop in the house, where I keep most of my tools and gadgets. So when I go to wir on something, I have to take a few tools with me. No problem. So yesterday I wanted to do some stuff, and I knew that the cutter I have in the garage needs a new blade. So I took one with me. Came to the garage, could not find the cutter. Must have taken it out. So instead of going back getting the knife, I decided to use the blade "as is", ignoring all the wisdom that I apparently supposed to have and every health and safety rule. Too lazy to go back inside and fetch the cutter.
I guess you know what happend, right? I f**** cut my finger really good. And as the blade was new, nice and deep, too :o:|:(:o (picture is from the web)
What can I say, stupidity always gets punished...

Many people in Vlissingen are bothered by mice, and I am not spared. This week, another one jumped from a piece of wood into my plant, which reaches almost to the ceiling, making it a nice climbing object. As if that wasn't enough, the little lady or gentleman went a little way up the wooden blinds and then down via the hanging plant. I had already wondered why that plant was shedding its leaves. Yesterday, there were small leaves all over the windowsill; actually, that never happens.
So I grabbed the live mousetrap again and filled it with treats, hoping to catch it and give it freedom far from home. I wasn't too happy that this happened just a day before my vacation; you can't leave a creature like that in a trap for a week.
The next morning, the trap was still empty, and I was quite bummed. The mouse was in the room; I had the door closed, and during breakfast, I saw it running under my large wooden chair and even managing to walk over my foot. After breakfast, I was tidying up a bit and kept hearing my guitar. You won't believe it: the mouse was inside my guitar, which was standing in the corner. I walked as far away from my house as possible with the guitar and the mouse, put my guitar down, and the mouse jumped out.
Some interior designers talk about letting the inside flow into the outside. I sometimes think that at my place, it flows from the outside into the inside, because with all that wood, big plants, and a chair that looks like a tree, mice feel right at home. Although I think they are very cute little creatures, I would prefer them to play outside.
So if you look very good at the picture you see .......

Lol that must have been a musical mouse, hiding in the guitar. There is a good chance you will meet this mouse again unless you released it more than 2, 3 km away... Read here from the internet:
To prevent a house mouse from returning to your home after live-trapping and releasing it, most wildlife and pest control experts recommend taking it at least 2 miles (about 3โ4 km) away. Many suggest 2โ3 miles as a practical minimum, while some advise 3โ5 miles for higher confidence that it won't come back.
Why This Distance?House mice have a strong homing instinct and can navigate back using scent, memory, landmarks, and possibly other cues. Their normal daily foraging range is smallโusually just 10โ50 feet from their nest when food and shelter are plentifulโbut they are capable of traveling much farther when motivated (e.g., to return to a known safe spot with food).
Releases under 1 mile (especially under 0.5 miles) often result in the mouse returning, sometimes within hours or a day.
Documented cases show mice (particularly deer mice and similar species) returning from distances up to 0.75โ1.5 miles in studies, and anecdotal reports mention returns from around 2 miles.
Beyond 2 miles, the chance drops significantly because the mouse becomes disoriented and is more likely to settle in the new area (or fall prey to predators, competition, or starvation).

Talking of wildlife...
People may remember me going on about "the thing in my attic" I even wrote poems and songs about it. Well after 3 years it's still making a daily appearance. I now know it's a squirrel that jumped from a tree onto the roof and through a hole into the loft space. Even after the tree was chopped back he still gets in.
Many things have been tried to keep him out, including smells and sounds, nothing has worked. The latest idea is leaving a strobe light up there that flashes and spins. Unfortunately he seems to enjoy this more than ever because I hear him dancing around and jumping like he's under a DISCO Ball at a Rave.
Thinking of wikilife...
I'm noticing in a change at wikiloops. I'd say that at the start it was a real 'instrumental' jamming site. The dominant Jazz, Blues, Rock genres are all suited to the guitar/bass/drums format, pure and simple and waiting for a lead instrument or vocal. Lately, as a vocalist I find it hard to find a suitable template because there are so many 'sequenced' uploads and very little space to add a melody or lyric. Often all the jamming constituents are already in place in a virtual capacity making complete songs.... good to listen to of course but not quite how wikiloops was designed to work at the outset.
Happy weekend to all :W

Sorry about Leicester relegation Shamika. I have a soft spot for them after the fantastic 2016 season, what a great season and story that was. Hopefully they reorganise and come back stronger. Happened to many teams. Leeds, city, Sunderland, etc.

Thanks TeeGee, it could take a while to climb up again, the club is in so much debt now. Who would ever want to come and play or manage us given the state we're in. It seems every game was lost because of silly mistakes and bundled chances. But I'll still support them, I'm a faithful type and I tend to support the underdog anyway :D

I'm having quite the schedule...
On Easter Sunday (April 5th), our cat jumped acroos my way through the flat. Tried to avoid her, misstepped, and 5 or 10 minutes later, the pain in my left foot began.
Wednesday after that: 1st visit to a doctor, who also sent me to another clinic to get an X-Ray. Result: nothing broken
It didn't get any better tho, so I stopped doing my 10,000 steps a day, and went back to our doc, who now sent me to an Orthopaedist. That one saw the X-Ray, wanted something better, so he sent me to the next clinic for an MRI (here in Germany we say MRT).
Result of that: fracture of the calcaneus (heel bone) - they sent me to hospital right away.
The doc at the hospital did another X-Ray, and didn't confirm any fracture, so today he wants to see me for a CT scan. He also wanted me to take heparin for thrombosis prevention, so I'm having a needle a day... :/
And tomorrow is my next appointment with that Orthopaedist.
Meanwhile, I walk on crutches. Getting in or out of the bathtub is impossible, and I shall not put weight onto that left foot. Well that hurts anyway, so I won't...
... guess it will take a while before I can "dance" with my upright bass again...
