As I had mentioned my situation in an earlier posting here, it's only right to say thank you to all who posted and mailed words of encouragement. To say I was touched doesn't even come close. So thank you all, WL is certainly more than a group of people just focussed on music alone.

Unfortuately, I will need to take some further weeks off, as my mother died last week and I still have two more family members in need of care.

But I will be back and hopefully be able to post something positive in the september diary.

Sorry to hear about your loss, you are going through a tough time for sure. Stay strong, and come back when you can.

I had a busy busy weekend, sort of successful:
*bought an old used lawn tractor that has problems (cheap price tough). Spent a few hours fixing it - had to get familiar with something I never ever had experience with. Mowed the lawn with it, it only took a few minutes. Still not 100% right, but it will get sorted.

*opened up the BSA primary case, changed the sprocket, changed some clutch parts, put it all together and did a test ride. Clutch is still slightly slipping, will have to have a think about that. Taller gearing is cool, now I can do 120 km/h on the old girl without my teeth falling out ;)

*changed the washer motor on my car, as if i did need something else to fix.

*The Strat is out on the sofa, looking at me very judgmentally. But I did have a play, so things are happening ;)

Monday 25th August.
Anyone who knows me well will be aware of my unpredictable moods. I find it hard to sustain an interest in many things. I get bored and cynical easily. This past week has been a non music week, but something happened as I was walking through our central park yesterday that really sparked me up again. I heard a song being played live, it was a young lady with a guitar but her voice was so good I had to listen to the whole set, a mix of Folk, Country, Pop covers and originals. Apparently she's been playing since she was 9 and at age 14 she wrote a song which 6 years later has been discovered chosen for local radio. I was so happy for her and wish her well but I was also sad that her talent may never be fully recognised in this AI world. Anyway I felt inspired again :)

Then I heard someone explaining how singing is so good for your mental health (releasing endorphins) It doesn't matter whether your singing is good or bad, just the act of doing it will lift the spirits. There is a song for every mood and a mood for every song so I have to stop writing depressing lyrics and maybe my mood will take a turn for the better <3

-Last weekend was nice. My youngest son and daughter had birthdays, so all three of them were home after a long time. It must have been Christmas when everyone was here at the same time.

I admit I ate too much cake, but not every day has to be a diet day, right?

-I also made a song with my gym buddy for Wikiloops. It turned out pretty good. I'm happy with how I played bass on it.

Now I've recorded a few hard rock songs over a drum track, but I don't upload them to the site. I've been really into listening to a band called Clutch lately, so I've been trying to learn the style of how to play that kind of music.

-My childhood friend is coming over this weekend and my band course starts next week. Those are the next things I'm looking forward to.

Nice Aito, I love it when my kids are all back home, it does not happen often, but its nice. Enjoy it!

And yes you have to eat cake once in a while, even if you are on a deficit. A cheat day once in a while is good for the soul :W

I had to renew my driving licence this week and it wasn't easy, so many questions and conditions.
The silly thing is, I haven't driven for about 10 years, there's been no need.
Now I seem to have lost confidence and I don't trust the other crazy drivers out there.
I used to have a big car with great visability but changed it for a smaller one, now I get claustrophobic even as a passenger.
Anyway I 'bit the bullet' today and drove to the Supermarket. I felt like a learner again... I forgot how to reverse, how to apply the handbrake, how to open the windows.... even where the key should go :D I probably didn't go faster than 20 mph and tried to make left turns only. Unfortunately I took a wrong turn and became out of my comfort zone. But I did it, stupid I know but I felt quite proud as I pulled into the drive back home again :)

I supported Wikiloops not for their name, I support it because it was a great idea & is a great way for musicians to jam outside their circles.
