Yesterday was my stepfather's funeral. His ashes are now in the river in his hometown.

But it was a good day otherwise. I saw my mother after a long time and of course also my sister, whose house I've been staying at this weekend.
Today I still have more than four hours of train travel ahead of me to Kuopio. Well, it goes quickly, although sitting on the train is a bit boring.:)

Took the car for its annual MOT today, it failed, in fact It was banned from being driven on the road. Repairs will be £450, 2 new tyres and coil springs, something to do with suspension I think. This was worrying because last weekend it took its first long, motorway trip for ages, dread to think what would happen if a tyre had burst.

It was nice to see my Daughter and her family but they live in a really boring place, nice fields and cows but no other signs of life. I missed the hubbub of town life, I'm a people watcher. I get inspiration for lyrics from what I see and overhear.

There's a strange guy in our town, he's there every day playing very loud music and dancing whilst looking at his reflection in the shop windows. He's not busking or asking for money, I guess he's just a little odd - we could all end up like that one day:(

I wanted to ask what these smilies meant :P and B) and :| can someone explain please?

Just an update on yesterdays post (see quote above)
I found out the guy is called Adrian (aka Tik Tok) He does have 'special needs' but he's well known for hanging around town dancing to his loud music and singing. Apparently he was beaten up by a bunch of lads and after that he stayed away, scared. But local folk rallied around to meet up and dance with him. Mostly the message was he made them smile. However his music noise can be annoying to shoppers as he's not that good.
I still want to know what those smilies mean!

We have had rain and cold wind but clothes over clothes over clothes lets forget this. Refreshing wet wind and rain. Lovely clouds. Canceled my train subscription. my bicycle rear tire looses pressure a little so I inflate regularly to compensate for this 😆... I should fix the problem tomorrow thoroughly by repairing the tube. I aim for replacing Dunlop by Sclaverand Presta valve in this undertaking.

I am a hunter gatherer, must be deep in my psychy, a legacy of millions of years of evolution and natural selection. Yesterday I made a kill. When I set myself a target I device a plan, set the trap and watch for years until the opportunity shows, then I pounce quickly and decisively! Muhahaha! My favourite hunting ground is the small adds app known as Kleinanzeigen. There I search for used tools and such. I carefully learn the market by observing prices, then set a search with the parameters I want, and then check the status up to 3 times a day. It can take more than a year until I find one that is the right type, price and location (if shipping is not possible due to weight). When I do find it, most times fellow hunters from other tribes obviously see it too, so I have to be quick. My super powers are very friendly messages to the seller and promise of quick payment. Yesterday I finally got my hands on a motorcycle hydraulic lift, I do a lot of fiddling with my bikes, and my poor back demanded I get one. I could have bought a new one, but where is the fun there?? Anyway, good find yesterday, and the seller was even so nice as to bring it over without extra payment. Success! The hunt goes on!

The new tube on my bicycle rear wheel keeps the air. (Air was leaking the last days before repairing it). I am now in Sclaverand Presta valve land I feel so promoted! That is true progress of mankind. I did it. Instead of Dunlop Blitz valve there is now a Sclaverand Presta valve. Humans fly to moon, invent bread knife, and a tire filled with atmosphere. I can't see any limits "Beschränkungen" any more!!

I recently learned that our new justice minister wants to put fines on cat-calling... so I have to revert to head-bumpin' ;-)

P.S.: yes I know what it means, and I swear I've never done it... :| And thanks to my wife for taking the picture of our cat & me with her new phone...

My friend visited me for the weekend. Although the weekend was nice, I found myself constantly thinking about playing bass. I had a song left unfinished on Friday and I wanted to finish it, music is becoming more and more fun as a hobby.

Well, I did get one song done this week. I loved it, even though it doesn't have a guitar track yet. I hope someone finishes that song.:)

with and while online chess-ing and acoustic guitaring time stands still at least with 50 percent - my gut feeling for this. When one calculate this thoroughly my life expectancy should be round about 120 years. When I start now learning Oboe... I additional gain 50% extra life expectancy, a third instrument comes into my mind!!

The Oboe is a magnificent instrument very good choice hartmut.
I think it is very difficult. Courage in your learning, you did a beautiful and ambitious choice. :)

I've been looking at the history of a former dance hall in Hinckley where I live. The old building is structurally unsafe and I imagine it will be demolished and made into accomodation.
It started life in 1874 as a formal ballroom but it has since been extended and changed many times until the original character was completely hidden.
It has been used as a cinema, court house, night club, Bingo hall, gentleman's lounge. But after 1935 it became a venue with a stage and dance floor. The acts in the 40s and 50s were people like Vera Lynn and Ivy Benson girls band.
Then in the 1960s as Pop and Rock became the musical choice, I was surprised to find that this little local place hosted some of the well know acts of the day.

Tuesday 30th September.

I just realised that this is the last day of the month and I haven't thought about starting the October thread.
There are lots of readers of the Diary but not many posters so I wonder if there's a way to breathe new life into the wiki diary for October?

How about a nostalgic month next ?
We could talk about key moments in the life of wikiloops, what we remember, who we remember and how wikiloops fits into our lives.
We could look back on the highs, lows and funny moments of our musical journey so far.
But mostly we want to turn readers into posters :)

I think the oboe has now “turned into” the clarinet in my mind. I believe I actually like the clarinet even more now than the oboe. I’ve heard users ajax and GeoWaEng play clarinet, and it moves me every single time. Many years ago it used to be the cello. But now “she” goes by clarinet. As you can sense, nothing in the universe is fixed — my preferences neither :D . Happy late summer all!
