btw, the "could you please shut up for a second so I can adjust the bass" and the "turn your amp down, we're using microphones here" situations are both totally common,
and if you want to make sure you'll get a crappy sound later that night, just keep annoying the sound guy by not following his instructions while he's trying to get you set up :)

Might do a "how to collaborate well with a (totally stressed) sound engineer" post sometime, a grumpy sound engineer can ruin any bands practise efforts single handedly, so better treat him nice :)
