Hey Isa,
what does your friend want to improve? Do you have any samples, descriptions on what might be lacking, and so on? Are we talking beginner (both in singing as also in technique), or does the question come from a seasoned vocalist/singer who wants that extra kick/knowledge about recording and processing her vocals?

She is an experienced singer who has started to work with reaper and would like to know more about the FXs to improve the sound of her voice; aiming at joinig W.-L. someday :)

This is not dedicated to Reaper but contains all the basics to mix a voice. (EQ, compressor, reverb, etc...)
I often refer to this site for free basic informations about mixing. I think it gives good documentation.

thanks for your answer.
Phil mentioned some of the standard tools already, like equalisers, compressors, reverbs, and such - and he's also right in that this applies to all DAWs, it's also not really that important to invest in costly third party plugins as you can achieve a lot with what's bundled with the product already.
Reaper has for instance lots of great tutorial videos from a guy named Kenny Gioia, see http://reaper.fm/videos.php for their huge list, or have a look at this for instance:

There are countless others who also provide good content like this, one guy from England I remember is Adam Steele, like in here:

Our master mixers here in the 'loops (like for instance OliVBee) will surely have some more tips once we hear your friend's voice and recordings, he's also using some great external (commercial) plugins while I'm mostly using free and open source stuff.
