Voyage of Masovia

The warm scents of Arabia,
Linger long on a tortured soul,
Meditating on the failures,
Of a fate that it can't control,
The desert never really changes,
Though it never looks the same way twice,
Sands shifting when the wind blows,
Bitter memories and flawed advice.

A city gate on the west side,
Gifts the portal to Masovia's crew,
Stealing in on the neap tide,
Making light work of what we do,
But she stands on the harbour wall,
Accusation written in her eyes,
And I can't even look at her,
Through the guilt of a thousand lies.

Djamila come to me on one last night,
Our limbs entwining as our souls ignite,
The burning passion of our hearts desire,
Come with me, we'll set this world on fire.

The wind tastes of Arabia,
Sweet flavours from the citrus trees,
Fill the sails of Masovia,
As she makes her way to open seas,
But the breath of my Djamila,
Falls softly on my neck once more,
My hands slipping on the ship's wheel,
As I navigate away from shore.

Djamila is an arabic, female given name. It literally means "beautiful girl" so you could read it both ways here.

Maybe she goes with him, maybe she doesn't (and it sounds like she probably shouldn't). V3 is deliberately ambiguous in that she could well be standing behind him at the ship's wheel or it could be just another trick of the wind. Up to you if you like happy endings or not.

A "neap" tide is a moderate one when the sun and moon are basically at 90 degrees to each other.

Masovia is actually a historical region of what's now Poland - I know someone who runs voyages on the Med aboard a yacht of that name which is why I used it [masovia.fr] - I hope she likes it...
