Track Search and Download MP3 Zip

Feature: The ability to download zipped collections of mp3 files. I suggest the creation of a small ‘popup’ add-on for searching and filtering your own tracks, other members tracks, and the main feed. The created app might interface easily for downloading playlists as zipped mp3’s.
Where would this be installed? If you want to download some of your tracks, add a new button ‘Download’ to tab MikeB->Tracks, just under the current filter options. Click the button and a search table appears under the current filter. You could search by date, keywords, genre, musicians, thumbs. Example: I want a download of my tracks uploaded from jan 2022 - aug 2022. I run the search and after the search list is created, I can select all (defaulted), or deselect tracks. Pressing the ’Save’ button prompts for a download location. App may take some time generating mp3s, so you would want a progress bar.
After ‘Save to’ prompt, app returns to your Tracks area. Other savable areas could include
other members tracks, and the backing tracks area.
This would be great for creating collections to load onto portable listening devices.

I believe my suggestion here would be a great feature. My post looks a bit windy, but a rehash of it: improvements to your search tracks screen include: filtering by date, and saving list to audio file zip collection.
Regarding the workload for mgmt to consider, how about a patreon site for extra improvement donation motivation.
I'm contemplating a best of wikiloops album for a bandcamp release. A download feature would be very handy.

Hey Mike,
Having a date filter on search, yes that can be done & might be interesting.
Offering bulk downloads straight off of the search page?
I see why you would find that a handy option, so don't get me wrong, but I see a massive abuse potential there as well.
If you offer people to download the whole blues drums collection with three clicks, well, some will, without listening to any of these tracks, giving a single thumb or leaving a comment of apeciation.
Is that really what we want to happen?
IMO, that would let the single track look like worthless item out for mass-grab, that is really not the signal one would like to send, neither to the creators, nor to the potential grabbers.
What wikiloops does is offer the combined zip downloads of the albums, which basically is what you are looking for - an export for a group of tracks.
So, if at all (feedback welcome!), I could see an export option on your playlist, so you could manage your offline devices playlist by exporting your wiki playlist, but without need to create an album - that would make sense, but I'd also make that a "supporters only" feature for the stated reasons.
I'm not all sure I understood your idea about a bandcamp release, I do hope you are aware such releases might need the involved wikiloops users consent? Re-releasing wikiloops track in a commercial context is not covered by the wikiloops license, as you probably know.
If others feel the mass-export is needed, feel free to share your views :)

Yes Dick,
You are right. A mass filter and search for tracks would be handy, but could be abused if available to general public. To clarify, my thinking, .. "I have a bunch of templates that didn't attract any overdubbers. I'm looping less, so I thought I'd release a 'Best of Wikiloops' as a 1st album for Bandcamp. " Something like that, legally speaking, with no overdubbers on those tracks, it wouldn't be a problem if I removed from the selection from Wikiloops, correct?
The long and slow of it, is a review, page by page from my yearly list, and linking liked solo tracks back to my stored daw projects, based on date. This isn't an exact science. As an ex-coder, I come up with too many of these get it done faster ideas...back to the drawing board.
Thanks for your consideration.

Glad you agree :)
And yes, if that is your material you are planning to release, of course there is no issue, I just wanted to make sure this thread doesn't cause irritation about the rules with some trespassing reader ;)
Thanks for offering such ideas, it's always good to get some outside input, I guess you know how it is... "Ex-coder" is actually a pretty cool state of life, now that I start to think about it.
