Here we are nowhere looking back wondering why,
Picking at the pieces of a love that we let die,
You're staring at me and of course I'm older now,
Though it seems to me that you look same somehow.
Your eyes still shine and you move with that cat-like grace,
The bangs in your hair still fall right into your face,
I can see the lover that I once longed to hold,
But I look at the lips that sold me out for gold.
Oh, and you say to me that we should try,
To turn the clock back to '94 again,
And I tell you that my name isn't McFly,
And you my dear don't own a DeLorean.
You call it "starting again" but there ain't no doubt,
You simply ran for home when the money ran out,
And I hope you find what you want, I really do,
But there won't be another chapter for me and you.
I wasn't the one back then when you had to choose,
And you'll never know how it felt when I had to lose,
See, history never repeats but it often rhymes,
And the bad guys get the good girls every time.
See, history never repeats but it often rhymes,
And the bad guys get the good girls every time.
Oh, and you say to me that we should try,
To turn the clock back to '94 again,
And I tell you that my name isn't McFly,
And you my dear don't own a DeLorean.
Maybe you were thinking of me,
And maybe not.

Awesome Lyrics. "History never repeats but it often rhymes", brilliant. I'm not a great singer, but I recorded this just me and my acoustic guitar. I thought I'd give it a folky take.

You don't have to be a "great" singer (like maybe Pavarotti) to have a voice. If Dylan proved nothing else, he proved that. You just need to mean it - and I think you do, thank you for using some of my words so wonderfully.
