What's stopping you from finishing something?
It doesn't have to be music, could be a home project, something educational, structural, business related, or a creative idea on the 'back boiler'?
Do you have a mental or physical block?

LOl I have a serious time and money issue on some projects. I am restoring 2 motorcycles, and have several other projects that I would like to do but I also still work full time so... but I am having fun :) But yeah, sometimes it's hard to keep at it, that's true.

As far as music goes, everything on my hard drive - 100's and 100's of unfinished tunes.
This is exactly why I love the Loops so much - since I stopped playing in bands I never finished a thing, but the loops collaboration style gets things done. :)

When my Granddaughter was about 5 years old she wanted me to build her a dolls house. I wanted it to be a bit different so I planned to make it in Tudor style with beams and gables. Of course this was way too ambitious :( Now she is 16 and wouldn't be interested in dolls much so it sits half made in the shed with cobwebs and woodworm. I probably should have just made one from a cardboard box because anything would have pleased her at that early age.

Lol I started restoring a Norton Motorcycle 30 years ago. It is still not finished, but that was mainly due to financial reasons. But I am on it again, bought some parts recently, hopefully when it is finished I can still ride it :D

I have dangerous amounts of works in progress, just on the musical front. I have an album to complete with my band (not just drumming/songwriting but playing engineer and producer as well).
Then there’s the covers version of the same band which keeps us gigging - appeal is limited for our original brand of prog rock so we don’t gig often. We use backing tracks (running Studio One 7 in ‘show’ mode) as there’s only three of us. Punters do really enjoy our ‘full sound’ and production standards but it involves a lot of behind-the-scenes production on my part remixing the backings to remove the right parts (e.g removing rhythm guitars but then putting them back for any solos, etc) plus production on the backing parts themselves (usually obtained from KaraokeVersion) because the base recordings sound a bit poor at times.
There’s live production for the above as I handle all of that (only I’m on in-ears with a click) which raises pressure on me come gig time as I’m setting up drums then moving onto all the production tech, plus I have to control the show from the drums. This is the price I pay for being both the only person in the band who knows how to do this stuff as well being far too perfectionist about how we sound. We might be playing local bars, etc., but I want us to sound like we’re punching above our station. It’s also very frustrating because, ultimately, I have to drum so have to hand over the front of house sound to someone else, usually just a friend in the audience…
I’m in a second band doing pop/funk to keep me gigging regularly. Thankfully I’m just a ‘hired gun’ for them - just turn up and wing it so that’s low maintenance.
Plus there’s promotional/social media activity which needs videos that muggins here also does… It appears there’s no such thing as a ‘quick’ video.
On top of that, I really need to earn money - moving to Spain has consumed all my backup finances - so I’ve started a business offering local bands live video and multitrack recording for promotional purposes. We’ve shocked a lot of local bands with our production standards on our videos (as they have fully mixed live sound) so I figured I might as well try and make some money from the ridiculous amount of gear I’ve accrued.
Plus I’ve also started a business doing IT guff for local businesses/individuals (laptops, networking, etc).
It’s not so much I don’t have time at the moment, it’s just that it’s a lot to juggle at the same time. I’ve just taken on too much and can’t seem to keep on top of it all. And it’s my OCD about things being impossibly perfect that I need to reign in.
