Wikiloops and more than one instrument

Just checking on here as a new supporter of wikiloops and would appreciate some advice. A long time ago I was active on Kompoz where whole songs could be slung together (somewhat haphazardly but it was fun!). I tend to work with more than one instrument and did a multipart remix for a recent drum template on wikiloops. I had assumed I would just upload all the instruments as one remix track. However before I did I just read the note about this being less than ideal. I can see why that might be so but since my remix has about 9 tracks I don't want to do the wrong thing and just upload nine separate tracks all at once (especially as some of the multitracks only have short bits of audio) if its the wrong thing to do. Perhaps the whole ethos of wikiloops is somewhat different and its not intended for this sort of activity?

Go ahead, post your remix, there's nothing wrong in what you intend to do, it's just not ideal because it leaves very little space for others to join.
The real wrong things here would be to publish a cover of a copyrighted song (no, you can't post a cover of let's say a Beatles tune) and to copyright wikiloops tracks, especially if you're not the original composer. In addition, A.I. is not a good way to go here, or at least make it subtle :)

Hey Alanc, uploading a finished track is of course possible and permitted, however you will find that you won't get a lot of response, and probably no remixes. Why? Simple, this site is based upon collaboration and remixing your instrument onto existing tracks, or providing a template for others to get creative. The world is full of finished tracks, Spotify or YouTube are full of them. But what we do here is unique. So once you upload a remix you start interacting with other musicians, and it develops from there. Give it a try, see what happens. In any case, remember to have fun ;)

Many thanks Al-Fadista and TeeGee, that helps a lot.
I think I came here thinking it was Kompoz like in its approach. This statement really helped position it better for me:

Thanks!

I'm one of those rare birds posting finished tracks and they are right, you won't get much traction if this what you are looking for. In my case I just want an outlet to create from bits I find interesting and let them take me where ever. I found this ''hobby'' liberating and with less pressure and critique than other sites as the musicians here don't really have any expections on what you do with their tracks. In the end, it will give a new and unexpected life to their work which they will gladly thank you for. Like a cherry on top!:)

Thanks Gees17!

Totally agree, I guess that is why I am having so much fun here. It reminds me a distant past, jamming in the garage and going with the flow!:W

I support wikiloops because I once didn't have money and really wanted to have a database like this! Now that I do have a little more money, I can help!
