I gave up fighting years ago,
Before I lost my mind.
Call me quitter if you must —
I won’t think you unkind.
The glory is the lullaby
That sings you off to sleep,
In beds of cold contrition,
Built of secrets that you keep.
You might win a battle,
But can you survive the war?
Soon enough you ask yourself,
“What are we dying for?”
None of it will matter
When your lungs scream out for breath —
Falling slowly down toward
The carnival of death.
We stand upon this fatal hill
That no one chose to climb,
Weighing up the options left —
And losing every time.
So I pull the hand grenade
And rip away the pin,
Counting softly down from ten,
So this one I can win.
You might win a battle,
But can you survive the war?
Soon enough you ask yourself,
“What are we dying for?”
None of it will matter
When your lungs scream out for breath —
Falling slowly down toward
The carnival of death.
Before I lost my mind.
Call me quitter if you must —
I won’t think you unkind.
The glory is the lullaby
That sings you off to sleep,
In beds of cold contrition,
Built of secrets that you keep.
You might win a battle,
But can you survive the war?
Soon enough you ask yourself,
“What are we dying for?”
None of it will matter
When your lungs scream out for breath —
Falling slowly down toward
The carnival of death.
We stand upon this fatal hill
That no one chose to climb,
Weighing up the options left —
And losing every time.
So I pull the hand grenade
And rip away the pin,
Counting softly down from ten,
So this one I can win.
You might win a battle,
But can you survive the war?
Soon enough you ask yourself,
“What are we dying for?”
None of it will matter
When your lungs scream out for breath —
Falling slowly down toward
The carnival of death.

Very powerful and well written lyrics, when I read them an hour ago, I instantly sung in my head. So I took my ukulele and did this raw recording.

Wikiloops is an amazing platform to experiment with the styles of music that I never have had the opportunity to vocalize with. Thanks to all the excellent musicians/producers, the sound quality of the tracks are spectacular.
