I recently upgraded my 18i8 to a Clarett Pre8 USB. The Clarett has a slightly better top end. A little more clarity and sparkle. I kept the Scarlet Octopre and use it for the toms. This setup is perfect for the mic setup I have. Cheers Marc B)

Read that you are planning to record your band. FYI: The Clarett handles vocals a lot better than the Scarlet series. It includes the "Air" high-end boost which works great with the higher-end vocal mics.
