Ernie440 hehe that they will!! Ever try that loosening of the strings and snapping them on the fretboard?? .. oddly it does seem to freshen them for a short while. Boiling them in vinegar is one I've never tried or did I??!! LOL I think I might have when I was around 16 yrs old. +1

JoeOnBass I've done the boiling, I use dish soap - gets a few days of something more crisp; usually I play them until there is nothing crisp left in them then change them up. Historically, you can hear the cycle in my recordings on Wiki - Crisp to dull and suddenly crisp again, lol. They're so darned expensive. +1

Ernie440 I used to chat with this guy a fair bit on YT back in the day .. he's got a video about "freshening" bass strings ... wasn't the first place I heard of this though ... he just redid the idea up and got almost 400,000 views .. not bad. He did quite well on YT even got a signature bass done up.
