Hi wikiloops! It's been a little while - I was waiting for a new USB interface to arrive but it's absolute crap, noisy as hell, so I binned it :(
Reaper and ASIO drivers have solved my recording dilemma though - this is my first effort, line out from my amp straight into the on-board audio on my laptop. There's a little buzz because I forgot to unplug the PSU while I was recording but it's barely noticeable - just needs some guitar! +1

hey rob! maybe you want to tell us which interface not to buy?! a little note to the forum would be nice, cuz I'm going to go on the lookout for one soon, too :)

My line-in isn't too bad if I remember to unplug the PSU while I record. Sure a decent soundcard in a proper desktop would be loads better though... +0

I know some soundcards and tested that a little bit - for a few money you can get good extern soundcards with usb. I use a Tascam US-122, but also the ESI MAYA 44 USB or ESI UGM96 are good Interfaces
