you know I was reading some stuff in the forum about mix downs sounding diff from point A to point B and even changing from play to play. I'm always afraid of blasting too much :(

You are definitely right. It is the most complex phase. Many splendid jam are penalized for that reason.

Yes the mix is very difficult. It seems that you turned down the original track so that in some places Dave's singing is almost not heard anymore. There is a trick for that, download the original singers track and add it to the mix, play with the volume and you might get a better sounding track mix wise. Did you adjust the originals track volume at all?
