I grew up in Chicago, which in the 80s, 90s and 2000s had a very strong music scene.
It is a very commen thing in Chicago to meet movie actors, rock stars and famous people everywhere. the rock group Cheap Trick you can find their members at the hardware store on weekends. Blues legend Buddy Guy lived 10 miles from my parents and I sold him a lawnmower once.
My neighbor was Jim Peterik. He is famous for writing the song "Eye of the Tiger" from the Rocky movie.
I know his family, know his wife, I get birthday cards from them, and have had bbqs with them.
Jim is also famous for another song called Vehicle, by the Ides of March. It was Number #1 in 1970.
He told me the story.
In 1969 he was a teenager and in a band in Chicago. He was still in school.
He one day saw a girl and like lightning he knew she was the one. The problem was she was very beautiful and didn't notice boys who weren't on the football team.
He wrote the song "Vehicle" just for her.He recorded it.
He brought the record to a disc jockey who made it #1 in the country.
He then walked up to her and told her the song she was listening to on the radio, he wrote just for her.
They are still married today.
Because I know that story,to me it is the greatest love song ever written.That's what inspired this.

Il a écrit la chanson "Vehicle" juste pour elle. Il l'a enregistrée.
Il a apporté le disque à un disc-jockey qui en a fait le numéro 1 dans le pays.
Il s'est ensuite approché d'elle et lui a raconté la chanson qu'elle écoutait à la radio, qu'il avait écrite juste pour elle.
Ils sont toujours mariés aujourd'hui.
Parce que je connais cette histoire, c'est pour moi la plus grande chanson d'amour jamais écrite. C'est ce qui m'a inspiré celle-ci.
