An die Natur

Natur! Dein linder Regen fällt
auf Ungerechte wie Gerechte,
und Deine Eine Sonne hellt
das Herz der Herren wie der Knechte.

Du birgst in Deinen Bergen Raum:
da kann ich all mein Weh verstecken;
und in den Tälern blüht mein Traum,
gleich wild verwachsenen Rosenhecken.

Die Nacht beglänzt Dein Sternenschein:
da darf ich weit in Wäldern gehen
mit meiner Sehnsucht, ganz allein,
und Keines kann die Spuren sehen.

In Wassern hell entsühnt die Brust
sich frei von allem Staub und Schaden.
Ein jeder Schmerz und jede Lust
kommt, o Natur, bei Dir zu Gnaden
