Wow, I'd love to hear that song... anyone?
Rock "mainly "men's music" ?
Whoa... quite a stereotype comment there :) so I'm assuming us ladies must prefer sloppy ballads or Boy band Pop? You're probably right actually :@

I think I meant Blues-Rock and Prog Rock - obviously Rock is quite a big genre, and there are a lot of women listening to Rock. I wen't to see Government Mule a while ago, there were definitely a LOT more men there...

Here's an interesting statistic
I have a quiet little youtube channel where I put more unusual songs. I get hardly any plays as I don't promote it. Mostly I keep the songs as 'private' But I left one as public because it seems to be very popular. It's less than 2 minutes long and it's about a lady teacher who liked to punish boys. It's a true story, my friend was a victim. I called it "Bend Over Boy"
Now, here's the thing, in the last few weeks it's had 9,600 plays and received 21 new subscribers..... "WHAT !!!" I couldn't believe it and I don't understand it. I looked at the statistics of who had been watching..... wait for it .... 100% MALE and almost all aged 65 and over
What am I missing here?

Who do I play for? For me, myself and I. It´s for strengthening the good vibes in me. Besides the fun, making music is a cleaning process. It´s like brain washing in the most positiv meaning. You can muse about something while doing lots of different things the same time, but you can´t do this when you´re making music, impossible! Making music disconnects me from the world. It can be a mental reset button.

I make music for myself and for the people I make music with. Aside from that, my kids are the only people whose opinions I give a paramecium's weakest little nanofuck about.
The reason for making music is to make music; no other aim is required.

I guess I play for myself these days but of paramount importance to me is that I fit in with the music. Technical flair, fancy party tricks, etc., have little value to me if it doesn’t belong. I’m much happier grooving than flashing!
Which is odd because I now play in a prog rock originals/covers band. Which is often the definition of musical indulgence! I’ve had a whale of a time balancing ‘being fancy’ with just ‘playing the song’ whilst recording my band’s album the last month or so and nearly always playing the song wins. Not because it’s easier but because it fits. An outlook I very much try to bring to my ‘Loops uploads but don’t always manage…
My first drum teacher said to me “if you do a gig and no one notices you then you’ve done your job properly.” An ethos I totally agree with.
As for audience? We play to 60-somethings who remember Pink Floyd the first time round.

That's an axiom straight out of Method acting! A really good actor disappears into the role; the audience sees his character, but nothing at all of him.
