I found it on Facebook, and I have to agree: Barista Dritan Alsela
Stdopsneor39u827
Starbucks started it all — the syrups, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, the caramel dreams, all that sweet nonsense that has nothing to do with coffee. Then all the other chains followed, blindly, without a soul, thinking that was the road to success. They got bigger, louder, emptier. They filled their pockets, sure, we can grant them that, but they sold the soul of coffee — replaced it with plastic flavor, sugar, and fake trends. Now Starbucks is closing stores, Coca-Cola wants to sell Costa Coffee — they bought it for 3.9 billion pounds and can’t even get half of that back, because no one wants this plastic coffee culture anymore. And that’s just the beginning — others will follow, because this era is over. The era of marketing, fake stories, pumpkin syrups, strawberry matcha smoothies, and sugar identity. Matcha was the final straw — the last green excuse to pretend it’s spiritual while completely forgetting where coffee comes from. But now it’s over. Now it’s our turn. Now the ones who actually make coffee speak again — the ones who roast it, smell it, feel it, live it. We don’t need trends. We don’t need influencers. We don’t need glitter cups or fake smiles. We need heart, craft, and honesty again. Coffee stays coffee — black, strong, honest, human. The big guys filled their pockets, now they can go. We take it back. Back to the roots. Back to the locals. Back to the beans. Respect the Beans. Always.

By the way, as a continuation of the above Starbucks post, in 2002 I was in California on business, our US importer showed us what is what, in any case we were riding along the coast and fancied a bcoffee break. He suggested Starbucks, and I agreed happily. I have heard the name, and saw it on TV, so I was exited. So I saw that there was a bloody HUGE amount of coffee and stuff to chose from, so I told the guy to basically chose something for me.
A bit of background on the guy: He is US american, but he studied in Germany, worked here, married a German woman, he spends many times in Germany on holiday, family visits, so he knows a little bit about what we eat and drink here, what our taste in food and drink is, right?
So he came out with these huge paper cups of coffee, and as much as I was exited, I was disappointed by the coffee. It was awful. Horrible. Terrible. Horrific! And believe me, I am not a Feinschmecker. I am not that spoiled. But...this...bääääääh...disgusting. But being polite I did not mention it, slowly drank in tiny zips, and when the opportunity came when he was not looking, I quickly poured it behind the wall where I was sitting.
And I swore to myself and the gods of coffee that I would never ever ever ever drink coffee from Starbucks. And I did not!

Hey TeeGee, though Starbucks has this cult following, it really is a low grade coffee, and really expensive!! My wife managed several Starbucks operations for more than 10 years, they even had a store called Teavana that sold dried tea leaves - good quality, and she will verify that the bean and coffee grade is extremely poor, they are trying to sell an exclusive experience, not a good blend of coffee. Part of the problem itself is that it's a blend!
We have in the past few years, been through Central America, and places like Barcelona, and coastal France, and the coffee selections are terrific by comparison. I don't fancy myself as a coffee snob, I drink 5-8 cups a day myself, and the majority of it is low quality brown water, but Starbucks! Even with a dozen of them in the immediate area where I live in Los Angeles - simply NO! It is not a pleasurable experience, also part of why they give it to you in such a large cup. In France, I get a small espresso, in a tiny cup, and the experience is 10000% percent more enjoyable than Starbucks brown water.
Just sharing my opinion, but I am sorry to hear you suffered the Starbucks experience on your journey here. There are many better options, but the better coffee's are not in the Unites States, this is certain.

Whenever I'm in the US for any length of time, one of the first things I do is try to find a store that has imported coffee. Those coffee pads they usually have in hotels should really be banned under the Geneva Convention.
Best coffee I ever had was the Cafezinho in Brazil. But I once brought a tin of it back to Germany and it tasted completely different. It's not only the beans and the way you brew the coffee but also the water you use.

Thanks for that Joe, very interesting. It just shows you how good marketing and clever advertising can do for a business, even if the product is not great...
I have another US coffee story, me and Mrs. Gee were a couple of times in Tennessee and Dallas visiting my son EssGee in college, and we were trying to get good coffee, which is not as easy especially in small towns. Most eating places had filter coffee, which is brewed and then kept heated for a long time. Terrible taste in my opinion. So whenever we were looking for a place to eat or drink we would peek from the outside through the window to try to see if they had a proper coffee machine. One day we came across a small burger place, and it had a proper good sized shiny Stainless steel coffee machine. We ordered a coffee, and duck me, it was actually good coffee!! The name of the place *drum troll*: It was a Wendy's :O :O :O So of all places a burger franchise :) . Not sure about the food, but coffee was good!

Amen and amen! Here in Germany many people have Senseo machines with these pads, I never had a good tasting coffee out of them.
20 years ago I was working for a different German company, and they provided us with coffee, but it was this disgusting filter coffee filled into large thermos flask, and you would pump it out of there. After a few hours in it the taste was disgusting. So my colleague got us a small Nespresso coffee machine with these small plastic pods. That was way better than the flask stuff, I can't remember which one it was but it was drinkable for sure (if you don' think about the chemicals that are probably in there). The downside: I thought the pods were a bit on the pricy side, they went for the same business model as those cheap in jet printers. You buy a cheap machine and then they bleed you dry with the ink or the coffee pods. Duck you George Clooney!!!
So I bought some fake Nespresso pods in Lichtenstein, they were much cheaper but the taste was not good. So then I had a brilliant idea: I peeled off the metal lid of a pod, filled it with good quality ground coffee I bought at the local shop, and we had relatively good coffee at an affordable price. If only meant we had to wash out those pods every morning, but that was not too bad B)

This is my coffee guy, I am not someone who "follows" people, but he is THE coffee guy. Love his videos. Especially I like his face when he drinks bad tasting coffee, it's a picture of polite disgust :D
Check him out, if you are a coffee person then it's worth listening

If you drink tea and decaf, you can really celebrate one cup of real coffee per day. I live like a monk (or maybe a Catholic priest?), punishing myself and then enjoying one cup of coffee a day. My resting heart rate at night is around 54 bpm.
Maybe I’ve exaggerated a little now.

Dear Coffee guys, has anyone here tried the famous cat poop coffee, also known as Monkey coffee, Kopi luwak, Civet coffee?
I have heard and read about it, but never tried it. Is it worth trying?
