Hey all,

I finally have a diagnosis. My recent MRI throws up both good and bad. The good is I’m not in permanent trouble - in fact my shoulders show no sign of long-term issues and I’m far too healthy for my age, apparently - the bad is I need surgery which will stop me playing for a while. In short, I have muscle wear in both shoulders which has caused my body to grow more bone to compensate; this bone growth has to be removed by keyhole surgery - quite literally my bone has grown to fill the gaps left by my damaged muscle. This surgery has to be done one shoulder then the other.

Each shoulder requires around 3 months to recover meaning I won’t be likely to be playing until early 2019. My first operation is on 2nd July. I may get a loop in before then but I don’t know.

Just to say thank you to you all for your support and understanding during my recent issues. I’ll be back, I now know probably when.

Martin

Martin, You are the man. I believe in you. I also had tough days, but I did not surrender. Now the sun rises in front of me, I hope it will also rise for you.<3

@martin: When I read your post, I didn't feel hitting "thumbs up" was in any way appropriate... but at the same time, I'm happy the cause of your ongoing issues seems to have been spotted and seems curable.
Keeping my fingers crossed, all the very best to you!

Dick:
I believe it was me that hit the thumbs up button. If that caused any concern then I apologize.
However, I know from my own personal medical experiences that the "not knowing" with a medical condition can be very difficult. I viewed finally finding out the problem as a very positive thing.
Again, if this in any way caused concern or distress then many apologies. I would never be intentionally unkind to another.

Hey Martin, good to hear you finally found the problem - hope you get a full recovery and see you back hitting the drums. Your drumming will be missed on the Loops, I hope though that you will pop by and listen to some songs, and maybe write a few lengthy forum posts ;) .Cheers, TG

Dear Martin,

I wish you that the operations are successful and that you in the future
again free to grab the drumsticks. Sometimes life spits up in your soup, you have to go through it now. Keep your ears stiff and always remember that we Looper are already waiting impatiently to make music again for the drumbeats of you ... I wish you all, all the best Martin ;o)

Hey Martin,

Too bad to read that! The good thing is that it can be treated! But not to be able to play music for such a long time is realy a pain in the @ss......wish you all the luck and a quick and good recovery!

Does this also mean you won’t make it to Germany this year?

Cheers,

Marc

Martin we are giving you 2 months to recover so chop chop. You are far to essential. So look at it as a blessing. Its not permenant. Thank god for that.

Glad you are otherwise good health and everything is fixable.
Maybe ask them to retrofit you with bionic shoulders while they are in there to improve the swing?

Do what is required to come back as an even more powerful drummer.

Remember - laughter os the best medicine. Come back even better.

Cheers!

Sorry to read that but glad you solved the clue and can go on.
We Will patiently wait for you ;)
Constraint is always interesting for creation. Maybe you could create a new way or drumming with your feet, have you ever tried a snare with a pedal ?

Sorry to hear you have medical issues and while i am glad it is resolvable, i also have sympathy for the long recovery time.

Perhaps you coild learn some other instrument or work on some related skill.

It is a bummer, but I see all the support written above, and I add mine.

Speedy recovery
Dave
