It suddenly struck me when listening to this track and looking at the musician's Countries - what a wonderful united thing we have going on here at wikiloops.com. If only Nations would make music together we'd have no problems in the World.

My example was just 4 Countries but can anyone give me something with more? Or, maybe some 'far apart' or obscure Countries (all playing together) ?

The evolution of a wiki Jam.

This amazes me...
PJE alone in England, uploads a drum track and waits expectantly
Jofi alone in Italy hears it and adds some keys, this could be the end, but no, along comes...
Ernie (Canada) thinks Ah, this needs my crazy bass also changes the title "Payback's a bitch)
Jofi likes it and sees an opportunity to weave in a sweet violin add (maybe not so keen on the new title :()
Finally for now Al-Fadista (France) thinks it needs some guitar in the second half

Others look in and start to create new lines... and so it goes on. Probably nobody knows anyone else in person but they know each other's music intimately.

Good example Tee, great title, but let's face it, Rock and Roll is pretty universal :) I wonder if there are any countries that never play it.
Do we have any Chinese musicians?

A-ha! I hadn't noticed that we could do that so thanks

A template (from an Indonesian lady) has 63 remixes but there is a musician from China hidden away, I looked at the profile which just said "Guitar" so cute :)

I'm really enjoying browsing the 'Search' functions on this quiet Sunday, thanks to wikidick :)

As an example of harmony between Nations I think it is not wrong to mention the musical union between Spain, England, Ireland and Italy with Ivax Davidaustin DirkL and myself. I don't publish examples of tracks, there are many and I wouldn't know which one to choose.

I agree EZ, you know each other so well now and whenever 1 or 2 do a mix you always want/hope the others will join in, a great multi-national collaboration:W

Talking of the power of music to bring people together despite their differences, I am reminded of Plato (Ancient Greek philosopher) whose thoughts on the subject are quoted to this day.

“I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning.”
― Plato

“Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.”
― Plato

I'll try to post more similar quotes from various people in this thread.

This quote surprised me because it's a scientist speaking in a very artistic and imaginative way.

“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.”
― Albert Einstein
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And another scientist who values the importance of music to our existence
“If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.”
― Charles Darwin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And finally for today, a very spiritual quote that is almost too hard to understand

“Music in the soul can be heard by the universe.”
― Lao Tzu

Do you remember Paul Simon's Graceland album where the Ladysmith Black Mambazo group came to recognition. Although they had been performing their amazing harmonies and chants for years, Paul recognised a World where harmony brings harmony.

These African a Capella performances are amazing, wish we had something similar at wikiloops, doesn't have to be entirely vocal after all Paul did play guitar :)
