I was looking back at my song mixes from 12 years ago when I was a naive newby at the Loops.
I wasn't here very long when life distractions took me away, but I'm so glad I rediscovered wikiloops and my old uploads (the only record I had of them anywhere). I had absolutely no idea how this place worked back then and I missed so much.
Now today, with a little more experience I find that lots of lovely Loopers had uploaded remixes, sent me messages, said nice things I never saw or acknowledged. So, I'm sorry if you're still around and I ignored you all those years ago. It breaks my heart when I look back at those sweet compliments and remixes that people had gone to so much trouble with.
:( <3
So if you are new to wikiloops and you're a little confused by it all, please spend time checking the HELP pages and asking around. Look at your 'News feed' regularly and make sure you're a kind, observant and generous wikilooper.... like I wasn't.
Yours truly Shamika

...but you came back and more than made up for it with your contribution this past year to the Wikiloops experience. Long may it continue <3

It's nice of you to say that, unfortunately I haven't progressed much on the technical side - struggled using the 'Band' and 'Album making' feature. I don't know how those spacing markers work when uploading and how to put emojis in the shout box :o Even if I was told I wouldn't remember - you have to do these things lots of times to learn.
But I do know how to send messages, delete mistakes, I can put players in posts and add YouTubes. So I'm getting there. I could NEVER do what you do TeeGee :W

Can I deviate a little to say "Thank you" to all the generous musicians who start a mix with a very simple upload. I search for these and I'm sure others do too.
As I check out the new arrivals each day I'm finding so many complete starting templates with nothing left to add.
Jamming should be all about working together and building. As nice as it is to listen to someone's completed masterpiece, I really value Loopers who are not too proud to add a simple, single instrument upload for us all to 'have a go' at :)

Yes, many new users do go that route because they have been working on stuff and needed a drum track or whatever, but usually after a while they get the idea and start separating the tracks. We also try to gently show them the way :)

I'm afraid I am guilty recently of resurrecting complete mixes from my files. I do try to start a mix with a vocal but that's not something that really works - vocalists need a solid bass to work on
