Tube Preamp Test
Testing out a Takamine CTP-3 Acoustic Tube preamp.
Some serious tubeage going on.
This is straight from guitar into FEA Labs Optical Compressor/Limiter into DAW. It is Stereo once in the Daw.

Thanks Nick! Soulfingers got me showing the Takamine some love. It has a matching active/passive sound hole pickup add on but right now thats just the piezo underneath the bridge.

I think my Right hand accidently did a mute right on top of the bridge piezo.I know what your pointing out.

Actually I think I didnt have the piezo seated firmly and it sounds like it popped into place.

Tube preamps take recording to a whole new level. They are used alot on vocals as well. This one is a winner for vocals and also the most popular for the average home recording person. The ART MP. Id recommenmd the ART MP/C .They are easily available for $40 USD here in the States. Adds a nice warmth and intimacy as well as that special "Yabba Dabba Doo" to vocals. They are great for Acoustic guitar as well. There are alot of simple modifications you can do to them as well like simply changing the tube. They come with a 12 AX7 tube which is high gain. So it distorts pretty easily. You can throw a 12AU7 tube into it which is 80% less distortion which is acoustic friendly.I have the MP/C which is that with a optical compressor .They are great units and also work excellent on bass.Guitars even sound great thru them.Id preamp everything if I could.They have a phase button if your not coming thru the mix try hitting that.
