Wade Absolutely right. It's a shame that so many players develop such great skill but then only show that they can play technically. For us (and most audiences?) it's about communicating emotions and stories. Lyrics and voices do that pretty easily, but it's (in my opinion) not as deep as what can be communicated instrumentally. There is a reason why most backing music (movies, TV, games, etc.) is strictly instrumental. It gives the emotional content. Adding words/lyrics can turn what's thee dimensional in to 2D by limiting what's imagined/felt to just what's said. +1
