A house so full of character,
The price so very low,
With the devil in the detail,
Of the things no-one could know.

We thought it was a bargain,
But it turned into a curse,
A deal too good to question,
That would fatefully grow worse,

The first time that she heard it,
She was standing in the hall,
Pointing with a trembling hand,
I clearly heard her call...

"There is something in the wall."

There is nothing in the wall,
I told her, nothing there at all,
Just ancient brick and creaking beams,
Where tiny insects crawl.

She’d sit there in the kitchen,
Looking fightened and withdrawn,
She became a haunted shadow,
That grew darker with each dawn.

She left one Sunday morning,
Packed her bags and took the train,
Her parting words still echoing,
Around my fuddled brain...

"There is something in the wall."

In my rage I grabbed a hammer,
Started pounding on the wall,
Bricks and mortar crumbling,
As tiles began to fall.

But the dust became too heavy,
Choking breath and blinding sight,
Consciousness slipped from my grasp,
As day turned into night.

I awoke to find I couldn’t move,
Entombed in cold hard stone,
A wall of bricks before me,
And behind me the unknown.

I tried to scream but made no sound,
However hard I tried,
Then panic gripped me as I heard,
New voices from outside...

"There is something in the wall."

Thanks Bryan.

Yes, you are not the first person to say that and it was very much my intention. Initially, I was writing it and stopped myself... "oh, its getting a bit EAP". But then I thought why not? I love Poe and recently saw a superb 1-man-Poe show at the Edinburgh Fringe so he's on my mind more than usual.

After that I admit I probably turned it up if anything with terms like "Entombed" - but its a Poe kind of subject so what the hell!!

Yo bro. Please don't get me wrong. We all get influenced by so much on his planet whether we sense it or not. And just cos this feels like Poe doesn't mean it is. Just means he might write something like this if he was still alive. Me is envious. Would love to write stuff like this. Well done!

@Bryan - I took it as a compliment, no sweat. And BtW you write a lot of fantastic lyrics that I couldn't hope to match - We do our own thing and do it the best we can - you can't ask for more.

@Ernie - you can see all kinds of weird stuff like this in Edinburgh BtW

@LW - Love it <3, you have a knack for finding the perfect image!

@G-Man - Awesome sauce bro, pure dynamite! and such a good track mucho respect to Ernie, JEF and PJE.

And yes, I wish I could play bass as well as Ernie does !!
