Using the part-markup-tool

How to create the markup, step by step

How to create the markup, step by step

1
Ask yourself: How many different parts does this track have? The focus lies on "different" here, if your track has 4 verses, 4 choruses and one solo part, then you will only need to define 3 parts.
Provide some idea of the chords played in each part, or at least the chord a part starts with.
You may add more rows to hold up to 8 different parts, which you may name as you like.
2
Locate the "start marker" which is by default present as the first marker. Grab the red right end of the marker, and drag it to the position where the song really starts (as opposed to the start of the file or the pre-clicks).
3
Specify the order in which the parts are lined up by clicking on the "Add marker"-buttons for each repetition. If your songs structure is verse-chorus-verse-chorus, click the "add marker" buttons of the parts in that order.
The markers appearing below the track can still be reordered and removed if necessary.
4
Adjust the color markers width to match the track positions of the part changes.
To do that, start the player and then stop it when you reach the end of the first part.
Now, click on the right end of the first marker and drag it, so the markers end and the players playhead position are aligned.
Proceed by restarting the player and stopping it at the end of the next part to be able to align the second part.
5
Preview the result of your markup by clicking on "preview markup & chordsheet output"-button offered right of the chord entering form.

If someone had told me that one day I played with musicians from all over the world I would have taken for a madman. Today this is real! Thanks Dick
